Just wondering if any connection. my name is spelled guin past spelling's guin guinn quin gwin gwyn. My family is out of va. patrick guin James gwin. I have done the dna test with family tree dna and match other guin guinn of tn 1792 no conecction yet to guin in va yet. lguinn8991@aol.com
While it is generally accepted that most of the variations on the Gwinn/Gwynn name are all related, I've never been able to directly connect us to Gwydir. Sir John Wynn wrote a genealogy of the Wynn family while he resided in this 'castle'. There is a theory that one of the Wynns had two wifes and upon divorcing the first, she went by G'Wynn and never resided in the castle. When time permits, I will study it more.
This Blog site is primarily to discuss the genealogy
of the Gwinn Family who settled in northern Wayne County, Iowa before the Civil War. In 1849, Samuel and Sintha Gwinn settled north of what is now Humeston. His sister and brother-in-law, Marshall Harvey and Mary Jane (Gwinn) Richmond preceded them as the Gwinn's were held up in Eddyville by the birth of their first son, Andrew. Andrew was my gg-grandfather. I will attempt to chronicle their decendents. Read! Enjoy! Comment!
